There are many factors that go into getting a top ranking for a keyword. The words you use on the page will determine how search engines will place your page, however, if you don’t have any quality backlinks to that page from higher-ranking sites then your efforts in fine-tuning the text for a page will be wasted.
In previous years you could litter a page with the same keyword and get more traffic. Over time search engines have cracked down on this shady process, and the ones littering their pages with keywords realized that people will not take you seriously if the text on your site is written for search engines, with obvious word repetitions that make for very awkward reading. Sure you got 1,000 visits today, but no one’s buying.
For writing web copy, the safest route to take is to write for the user. Don’t attempt to squeeze in multiple keywords and keyword synonyms. Search engines have become very attuned to this kind of sloppy writing. An honest, well-written set of web copy will do more for you than you know.
